§ 8176-2.1. Use of parking spaces.

  • a.

    Required covered and uncovered parking spaces shall be maintained in a condition that allows for the temporary parking and maneuvering of vehicles unless otherwise provided herein.

    b.

    Except for the creation of an accessory dwelling unit, pursuant to Section 8175-5.1.1, required parking spaces shall not be converted to other uses or used for the sale, lease, display, repair, or storage of trailers, boats, campers, mobile homes, waste containers, merchandise, or equipment.

    c.

    Required parking spaces at automobile repair shops, service stations, or similar land uses shall not be used for the storage of vehicles for repair or servicing.

    d.

    Parking lots that serve commercial or mixed use developments should be shared as authorized by this Article. Where feasible, such parking lots should accommodate public coastal access parking.

    e.

    Excess motor vehicle parking spaces may either remain as motor vehicle parking spaces or be converted to bicycle parking spaces, motorcycle parking spaces, landscaping, or other allowable uses.
