No person shall alter, fell, or remove a Protected Tree except in accordance with
the provisions of Section 8107-25 et seq. If tree alteration, felling, or removal is part of a project requiring a
discretionary permit, then the tree permit application and approval process should
accompany the parent project discretionary permit.
If a person applies to alter, fell, or remove a Protected Tree located in an area
subject to an area plan or project related conditions (e.g., subdivisions and conditional
use permits) which include requirements more stringent than the subject ordinance
requirements, the stricter requirements shall prevail in establishing the conditions
of approval for a tree permit.
No provision of these Tree Protection Regulations shall be interpreted as permitting
or requiring any violation of law, or any lawful rules or regulations or orders of
an authorized governmental agency. Regulations of other agencies and jurisdictions
that should be considered in the administration of the Tree Protection Regulations
are referred to in the Tree Protection Guidelines, as adopted and as may be amended
by the Ventura County Board of Supervisors.
